Normal Community High School had six individuals place in the top five in their respective events to help the Ironmen to a third-place finish in the 14-team Raider Invitational at the Robert Frank Sports Complex on Saturday.
NCHS finished with 275 points, 61.5 points behind champion Champaign Central. Host Bloomington finished eighth with 172 points, while Normal West's 154 points enabled it to place ninth. Eureka/Roanoke finished 12th with 45 points.
Brian Farris of NCHS finished second in both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events. Samarth Bhaskar took fourth in the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley. Bret Starkey and Mike Gibson finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100 breast stroke.
BHS won the 200 freestyle relay by less than a second over Hinsdale South.
Justin Ruszkowski of West finished second in 1-meter diving, 10 points behind Trevor Gladney of Central. BHS' Chase Fillingham took second place in the 200 IM.
