For the fourth time this season, Illinois State freshman guard Kristi Cirone was named the Missouri Valley newcomer of the week after the Redbirds swept Drake and Creighton at home over the weekend.
No other newcomer has won the award more than twice this season.
Cirone shot 53 percent from the field, 63 percent from 3-point range and 83 percent from the free-throw line with 35 points, nine assists and four steals in the two games.
She scored 18 points, all on 3-pointers, in the Creighton game.
Every time Cirone makes a 3-pointer or a free throw, she breaks her own Redbird freshman records. Her 47 3-pointers are 19 more than the previous record, while her 104 free throws are 20 more than the previous mark and fifth on the team's single-season list.
The Redbirds visit Drake at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday.
