ST. LOUIS - The Bloomington Lady Hearts won their pool play at the St. Louis Saints Classic on Saturday, winning twice and losing once, to advance to bracket play today at 1:45 p.m. in St. Louis.
The Lady Hearts won their last two games, defeating the St. Louis Saints, 5-3, and the St. Louis Sluggers, 9-1. In the first game, the Lettes capitalized on three Lady Hearts errors to score five runs in their final at-bat to claim a 6-5 win.
Katie Newman (4-2), who took the loss in the first game, got the win in the Hearts' final game, allowing just two hits. Molly Coers went 3 for , while Ashley Deck and Colleen McGlaughlin both doubled and tripled.
Against the Saints, Jill Meinhold went 3 for 3 as the Hearts scored all five runs in the third, four of which were unearned. Callie Walczak (3-0) allowed five hits, struck out four and allowed no walks.
