OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Bloomington-Normal Girls Softball Association Angels saw their season come to an end with a 4-0 loss at the hands of the Northern California Flyers in the Amateur Softball Association 18-under national tournament Friday.
Although the Angels hit the ball hard, they could only manage four hits against winning pitcher Jolene Curtis, who went the distance for the Flyers.
Chrissy Burton (26-8-1) gave up three runs and five hits over three innings to take the loss for the Angels. Kelsey Shay gave up one run on two hits in two innings of relief and Kristen Drage pitched the final inning for the Angels, who finish 44-14-1.
"We hit the ball hard all day but, unfortunately, right at them," said Angels coach Ed Heineman. "We only had one strikeout and no pop outs and must have had at least six line drives that couldn't find a hole.
"We had a very successful season and the girls can definitely hold their heads up high."
