Lynx men stay perfect in conference action

Lincoln College (13-3) downed Lincoln Land, 72-57 Saturday at Lincoln to improve to 4-0 in Mid-West Athletic conference play. Kyle Jacobs and Brandon Alexander, who shot a combined 18 of 30 from the field, led the Lynx with 20 and 18 points, respectively.

Lincoln College shot 60 percent (18 of 30) on field goals in the second half to drastically expand a two-point halftime advantage.

Lincoln College women fall shy Lincoln Land rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to defeat the host Lynx, 68-66 in a Mid-West Athletic conference game.

"We played our hearts out, but our free-throw shooting and attention to details came back to haunt us," Lincoln College coach Carol Wilson said.

Latoria Lane recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards for the Lynx. Mechelle Donald added 13 points and Carmen Weaver and Gina Thompson chipped in 10 a piece.

Eureka College women downed

Eureka College (10-4, 1-1) fell to Benedictine University, 70-52 in Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference action Saturday at Eureka.

Mandi Sistek led the Red Devils with 17 points and seven rebounds. Molly Hardesty added 16 points.

Benedictine (6-9, 1-0) held Eureka to just 31 percent (16 of 52) from the field.

Eureka College men lose

Eureka College (4-11, 0-2) lost to visiting Benedictine University, 87-73 in Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference action. The Lynx were paced by Tim Peffer's 22 points including 5 of 10 from 3-point range.
