SPRINGFIELD - The Mahomet-Seymour High School girls track team won the 14-team Springfield Southeast Invitational Saturday, scoring 182 points to 96 for runner-up East St. Louis. Bloomington was third (91), University High tied for sixth (46) and Lincoln was 12th (14).
Mahomet-Seymour's Laura Morris won the 100-meter hurdles (15.8 seconds), long jump (16 feet, 3 inches) and high jump (5-2).
Other Bulldog winners were Josi Parker in the 800 (2:22.24), Amy Clawson in the 3,200 (11:33.51), Katie Clark in the discus (99-0), Christina Leininger in the pole vault (8-0) and Daniella Bunch in the shot put (37-0).
Mahomet-Seymour also won the 3,200 relay (10:05.37) thanks to Julie Jarrett, Hannah Schaap, Jessica Butcher and Marya Esworthy.
BHS winners were Ashley Verplank in the 1,600 (5:27.9) and Paige Steffen in the 300 hurdles (48.27). The Purple Raiders also won the 1,600 relay (4:05.89) with Verplank, Tara Clemens, Mackenzie Clemens and Kia Hughes.
Two EPG boys earn wins
El Paso-Gridley's Quenten Bateman and Cody Seiler each earned victories at the Don Gooden Co-Ed Classic at Mendota.
Bateman won the 400-meter dash in 52.9 seconds and Seiler took first in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 2 inches.
