Milligan falls in quarterfinals of national amateur tournament

URBANA - Marisa Milligan of Normal suffered a 3 and 1 loss to Mallory Blackwelder of Versailles, Ky., on Friday in the championship flight quarterfinals of the 107th Women's Western Golf Association National Amateur Championship at Stone Creek Golf Club.

Milligan, a University High School graduate who plays on the Auburn golf team, lost in the morning to Blackwelder, who went on to defeat Dottie Ardina of Laguna, Philippines, 1 up, in afternoon play. Blackwelder faces Stefanie Page of The Woodlands, Texas, in today's 7 a.m. 36-hole championship match.

Also Friday, Kim Bailey of Gibson City fell in the third flight semifinals to Raquel Hopton of Valparaiso, Ind., 1 up.
