Olympia shut out; GCMS upends El Paso-Gridley

Wil Lunt threw four touchdown passes to lead Rochester High School past Olympia, 42-0, Saturday in a Corn Belt Conference football game at Rochester.

The game was postponed Friday night because of lightning. Rochester improved to 4-1 overall and in the Corn Belt, while Olympia fell to 0-5 overall and in the league.

Lunt fired TD passes of 25 yards to Taylor Reller, 28 and 14 yards to Ben Brubaker and 8 yards to Ryan Green. Rochester's other scores came on an 85-yard run by Logan Butler and an 8-yard run by Reller.

Rochester jumped to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and led 35-0 at the half.

GCMS 28, El Paso-Gridley 0

Jamie Sexton rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns and had two interceptions as undefeated Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley blanked El Paso-Gridley Friday night at Gibson City.

Sexton scored on first-quarter runs of 8 and 4 yards as GCMS (4-0 in Heart of Illinois, 5-0 overall) jumped to a 14-0 lead.

Casey Cline added touchdown runs of 9 and 32 yards en route to 123 yards on 15 attempts. GCMS rolled up 340 yards on the ground, holding the ball for 29 minutes.

Sexton's two interceptions helped hold EPG (0-4 in Heart of Illinois, 0-5 overall) to 236 total yards. Matt Bradbury had five solo tackles and five assists, while Brenton Fairchild registered five solos and four assists.

Jordan McKinsey led the Titans with 54 yards on 10 carries. Adam Reel ran five times for 40 yards.

"Our offensive line did a great job in helping us chew up the clock," said GCMS coach Mike Allen. "El Paso-Gridley is a hard-hitting and well-coached team and the score really didn't reflect the overall game."
