BLOOMINGTON — For outdoor enthusiasts and their families, the Interstate Center is the place to be Jan. 25–27 as The Pantagraph hosts its annual Fish & Feather Outdoor Expo.
Hours are noon to 7 p.m. Jan. 25, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 26 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 27. Admission is $7 for adults with discounts for seniors, veterans and first responders, and $4 for kids 12 and under.
“We are really excited to add antler scoring to our show this year,” said Jill Redenius, Fish & Feather Event events coordinator. “We have official measurers from Boone and Crockett and Pope and Young to score deer and will be awarding plaques in six categories. We hope that area hunters bring in their heads for display and judging.”
Lil Beaver Brewery, a Bloomington-based brewer, will make its debut at the show, featuring its freshly canned Vanilla Creme Ale, a Mexican Style Lager and several other specialty brews.
People attending will find around 75 booths filled with hunting, fishing, resorts, lodges, bait and tackle and outdoor associations.
Free seminars will once again feature a roster of well-known speakers, including Pantagraph columnist and Wired2Fish.com president Terry Brown, Bass Club Angler of the Year Jerry Martoglio, crappie enthusiasts Greg and Luke Humphrey and Terry Davis, plus Jeremy Stoddard, Mike Mladenik, John Diniz and David Brooke.
A complete list of times and speakers can be found in Pantagraph ads, online at pantagraph.com/fishandfeather and on Facebook at The Pantagraph Fish & Feather Expo.
Other organizations, including the Prairieland Preservation Foundation and Pheasants Forever, also will have booths, as will the McLean County Sportsmen that will be selling tickets to the group's annual Wild Game Banquet.
There will be lots for the kids to do, too, including bow fishing, feeding live deer and tying fly lures. And everyone will enjoy the chance to win more than $1,200 in gift certificates from Dick’s Sporting Goods and Scheels that will be given away as door prizes throughout the weekend.
