NORMAL - It will be "Pack The Arena Day" on Saturday when the Illinois State women's basketball team faces Indiana State in a 4:05 p.m. tip-off at Redbird Arena.
ISU officials are hoping to break the single-game attendance record for a women's basketball game in the matchup against league-leading Indiana State. The current mark is 3,721, set when the Redbirds played Northern Iowa on Jan. 4, 1996.
The No. 2 crowd came two weeks later when the Redbirds hosted Drake before a crowd of 3,457. The third-largest crowd (3,074) came this season in the league opener against Southern Illinois.
Illinois State enters Saturday's game with an 8-10 overall record and 3-6 Valley mark after winning three of its last four. Indiana State (17-2, 9-0) is riding a 15-game winning streak which is tied for the second-longest in the nation.
The last time Illinois State and Indiana State met, Jaci McCormack hit a spinning jumper with less than one second remaining to give Illinois State a 72-70 victory in the championship game of the Valley Tournament last March.
