2001: Bloomington High School heavyweight Seth Livingston, who is 37-0 and has won 53 straight matches, captured his second straight sectional championship to led 21 area qualifiers into next weekend's state wrestling tournament at Champaign's Assembly Hall.
1991: Bloomington High School's Keri Wilson finished eighth in the girls state high school bowling tournament at Peoria. Wilson, who was tied for second after the first round, finished with a final score of 2,061. Rosine Marschke of Crete-Monee won with 2,362.
1981: These are heady times for Tom Wieghaus, the likeable effervescent catcher from Illinois State University. Just returned from a successful winter stint in Venezuela, Wieghaus will get married this Saturday and then head for West Palm Beach, Fla., and spring training with the Montreal Expos.
1956: Minier High School's wound-up Wildcats wilted Delavan, 82-60, to capture the Mackinaw Valley Conference diadem with a spotless 12-0 loop slate. Coach Ed Saunders' sterling students have won 22 straight games and own a 23-1 season record for one of the finest achievements in Miner athletic history.
