The Prairie Central High School boys basketball team took advantage of its free-throw opportunities, completing 20 of 22 from the line to turn back Olympia 50-44 in overtime in a Corn Belt Conference contest Saturday at Stanford.
Prairie Central (11-9, 4-5) tied the game at 37 apiece at the end of the fourth quarter, sending the game into overtime. In OT, the Hawks made 13 points, while Olympia (6-14, 1-8) was only able to connect on seven attempts.
Leading the way for the Hawks was junior guard Brett Crane with 19 points. Junior center Ben Herr added 11, and senior guard Jason Williams added nine, including six of six from the free-throw line.
Olympia senior guard Alex Frantz led the Spartans with 19 points, including two 3-point field goals.
Illini Central 59, Pleasant Plains 50
Illini Central's Anthony Rivera 25 points led the Cougars to a nonconference victory over Pleasant Plains at Mason City.
Drew Kastner added 10 points for Illini Central (15-7).
Brimfield 51, Delavan 40
Delavan's Jordan Zimmer posted a team-high 12 points as the Panthers fell to Brimfield in a nonconference game at Delavan.
The Panthers (5-19) got behind by 10 points early and were unable to recover.
Dixon 67, Streator 58
Streator's Brooks Martin drained six 3-pointers en route to a team-high 24 points as the Bulldogs fell to Dixon in a NCIC game at Streator.
Senior guard Brandon Vanduzer chipped in 11 points for the Bulldogs (5-17, 2-7), while Mitch Uratchko had nine.
St. Bede 75, Woodland 63
Woodland senior guard Chris Cassady had a game-high 30 points, including five 3-point field goals, but it wasn't enough as Peru St. Bede beat the Warriors (3-18) at Woodland.
Sophomore Brian Council added 14 for the Warriors.
