AVON, Ohio — The Normal CornBelters could only muster six hits in dropping their fifth straight game as the Lake Erie Crushers took a 2-0 victory on Thursday in a Frontier League game.
Scott Sebald (1-1) did his best to keep Normal in the game. He threw eight innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs while walking one and striking out five.
However, the Belters didn't have much luck against Lake Erie starter Donald Murray (1-1) and two relievers.
Murray blanked Normal for seven innings, giving up five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. Justin Sinibaldi got the last three outs for his first save.
Sean Hurley hit a solo homer for Lake Erie.
Derrick Loveless had two of Normal's six hits, including a double. Normal scored only two runs in the series.
The Belters travel to face the Evansville Otters at 6:35 p.m. Friday.
