JOLIET — Former Illinois State pitcher Jack Landwehr earned his second straight win Tuesday night as the Normal CornBelters downed the Joliet Slammers, 3-2, in Frontier League baseball action at Joliet Route 66 Stadium.
Landwehr (2-2), the reigning Frontier League Pitcher of the Week, allowed six hits and two earned runs in six innings, striking out four and walking two.
Jonathan De Marte pitched two scoreless innings and Anthony Herrera added a perfect ninth to notch his fifth save.
The Belters scored two runs in the first inning and one in the fifth. Santiago Chirino and Derrick Loveless drove in runs for Normal.
Joliet got its runs in the fifth, both scoring on Danny Zardon's double. Taylor Goshen (3-3) took the loss for the Slammers.
