BLOOMINGTON — The Central Illinois Flying Aces on Monday finalized a trade with the Sioux Falls Stampede on the day of the USHL trade deadline.
The Aces acquired Stampede forward Khristian Acosta and a 2018 USHL Phase II first-round pick in exchange for Central Illinois captain Cameron Burke and the Aces' third-round selection in the 2018 USHL Phase II Draft.
A University of Massachusetts Amherst commit, Acosta is in his second season in the USHL. The 5-foot-7, 170-pound right-handed shooter posted 23 points in 38 games this year. In 20 games with the Stampede last season, Acosta had 13 points on one goal and 12 assists.
The the acquisition of Sioux Falls’ first-round pick gives the Aces five picks in the first round of May’s draft.
Taken by Central Illinois in the 2016 USHL Phase II Draft, Burke played in every game over the last two seasons. The University of Notre Dame commit has 42 career points on 14 goals and 28 assists in 106 games.
The Aces return home for a two-game series against the Fargo Force on Friday and Saturday.
