PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Team USA (U18) scored the first four goals Friday night and went on to a 4-1 victory over the Central Illinois Flying Aces in USHL action at USA Hockey Arena.

Max Andreev scored his 10th goal for Central Illinois (12-28-5, 29 points) in the series opener with Team USA (24-11-1, 49 points).

The U18s scored three times in the first period. Cole Caufield scored less than five minutes in for his 19th goal of the season. Jake Wise doubled the lead with a goal at 14:28. Three minutes later, Jonathan Gruden scored on a power-play to make it 3-0.

Cam York added a goal in the second period. His shot from the high slot deflected past goaltender Zach Stejskal.

The Flying Aces broke up Team USA goaltender Drew DeRidder’s shutout in the last 90 seconds of the third period. Andreev ripped a shot from the left wing that slipped underneath the crossbar.

Central Illinois faces Team USA (U17) at 6:05 Saturday night at USA Hockey Arena.
