SPRINGFIELD — Flanagan’s Ben Hulse, a regular competitor at Fairbury’s American Legion Speedway, won Sunday’s Wynn’s Sportsman Nationals at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.  Hulse edged Steve Adams for the victory in the 19th annual event that covered 20-laps on the one-mile dirt surface.

The Sportsman Nationals was a support race for Sunday’s Allen Crowe 100 ARCA Series event won by veteran Frank Kimmel of Clarksville, Ind. It was Kimmel’s 76th career ARCA Series victory.

Kimmel led 51 of the 100 circuits of the main event, taking the lead for the final time on Lap 87 before running away from the field. Kimmel outdistanced Alex Bowman of Tucson, Ariz., to the checkered flag by 5.087 seconds.

El Paso’s Ryan Unzicker, driving a car fielded by Hendren Motorsports of Gridley, qualified 12th and finished 28th. Unzicker was sidelined with motor problems on the 37th lap.
