Borkholder wins national title: Nitely Borkholder, 7, of Hudson won a national championship in late June in the United States Tumbling Association meet at Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Borkholder had a score of 39 out of possible 40 to win the title in the Novice 7-under division.
She trains at Gymnastics Etc. in Bloomington and is in her first year of competing.
BCC repeats as CICCA champs: Bloomington Country Club won its second straight Central Illinois Country Club Association swimming championship on Sunday at BCC. The meet was the 76th annual.
BCC had 3006.5 points while Illini Country Club was second with 2903.5 in the six-team meet. BCC winners included: Paige Novotny (6-under 25 backstroke); Sam Rink (8-under 25 freestyle, 25 butterfly and 25 backstroke); Tyson Tucci (10-under 50 free); Caroline Leak (8-under 25 breaststroke); Caroline Bazan (12-under 50 breaststroke); Claire Koh (14-under 50 breaststroke); Jacob Pinter (18-under 50 breaststroke); and Nolan Rink (10-under 50 back).
Normal Parks records: The following Normal Parks Swimmin’ Sharks broke team records this past weekend in the Twin City Swim Conference Meet: Landon Harr in the 14-under 50 backstroke (27.87); Steven Fishman in the 18-under 50 breaststroke (27.46), 50 backstroke (24.30) and 100 IM (52.78); and the 18-under 200 free relay of Fishman, Ed Madison, Kyle Kiper and John Remmes (1:29.42).
BCC earns crown: Bloomington Country Club won the seventh annual Central Illinois Country Club Association Junior Tennis Classic on July 13 at Bloomington.
Team members were Mariel Runyan, Katie Barger, Amaya Fernandes, Anthony Kahwaji, Trey Tattini, Ian Bliss, Zion Atwater, Alison Hanson, Renata Lee, Thomas Moh, John Atwater, Sam Kahwaji, Madison Tattini, Ava Roper, Molly Hanson and Clare Wieland.
