15 years ago (2003): Normal Community won its 14th straight girls basketball game, raising its record to 26-2 with a 41-29 verdict over Bloomington in the championship game of the Class AA Normal West Regional. Truman State recruit Megan Patti led NCHS with 15 points.

25 years ago (1993): University High wrestler Kurt Hudson, who had targeted the Class A state championship at 135 pounds all season, hit the bull’s eye with a 5-2 title victory over Port Byron Riverdale’s Joel Stockwell before a crowd of 10,434 at the Assembly Hall. Hudson ran his season record to 44-0.

50 years ago (1968): Deer Creek-Mackinaw corralled the Armington Mustangs, 65-64 in overtime, to remain “Chief” of the Mackinaw Valley Conference. Neal Stechman, the Chiefs’ aggressive 6-foot-5 freshman center, paced his team with 18 points.
