5 years ago (2013): Reigning Class 2A state champion Deer Creek-Mackinaw (36-1) earned a return ticket to state with a 24-26, 25-22, 25-19 triumph over Decatur St. Teresa in the Warrensburg-Latham Super-Sectional. Lipscomb recruit Lauren Anderson led the Chiefs with 27 kills and 19 digs.

15 years ago (2003): Illinois State goalkeeper Allison Farrington stopped Creighton’s fourth penalty kick and Heather Forsyth buried the Redbirds’ fifth and final penalty kick to give ISU a 5-4 win in the Missouri Valley Women’s Soccer Championship.

25 years ago (1993): Bloomington’s Ronnie Paul and Ryan Schau, along with Normal Community’s Brent Baker, were two-way offensive and defensive selections to the Big 12 Conference all-star football team and Normal’s Jeff Zigmant was picked for the second straight season as a unanimous choice at linebacker.

50 years ago (1968): Greg Dambold scored four touchdowns in Bloomington’s 40-12 victory over Springfield and won the Intercity individual football scoring championship. Dambold finished with 16 touchdowns for 96 points. Mike Wells of Normal Community finished second with 90 points.
