Senior Andrew Ziemnik paced IWU with 18 points, while Victor Davis added 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
15 years ago (2004): Amanda Rogers, an eighth-grader from Chiddix Junior High, was chosen to spend a week in China studying karate with Master Wu Bin, the personal trainer for action film star Jet Li. Rogers, 14, has been practicing karate for 10 years and has worked her way up to black belt level.
25 years ago (1994): In Dave Darnall’s final game as Eureka College coach, the Red Devils claimed the NAIA Division II national championship with a 98-95 overtime victory over Northern State (S.D.). Tourney MVP Chris Peterson gunned in 36 points for Eureka, which finished the season at 27-5.
50 years ago (1969): Gary Legner of Central Catholic High School has been named to the Chicago American all-state basketball team. Legner was one of 35 players picked for the all-state squad. Ron Eeten of San Jose and Bill Thommen of Roanoke-Benson were selected for the American’s little all-state team.
