15 years ago (2004): Sophomore forward Michael Hoomanawanui scored at the buzzer to force overtime and Central Catholic made enough free throws down the stretch in the extra period to stun Ridgeview, 74-70, in a nonconference basketball thriller.
25 years ago (1994): Former Illinois State and Lincoln College basketball player Reggie Wilson was found shot to death in his hometown of Chicago. The bodies of Wilson, 24, and Felicia Lewis, 21, were found in a garbage bin. They were apparently victims of a carjacking on Chicago’s south side.
50 years ago (1969): Illinois State University’s swimming team got a record-breaking performance from Steve Graves and defeated Bradley, 64-40, in the Horton Field House pool. Graves, a former U High swimmer, set a school record of 11 minutes, 4.7 seconds in winning the 1,000-yard freestyle.
