5 years ago (2014): Twenty-five years earlier, Illinois State’s Randy Blair sank a 5-footer from the baseline 35 seconds into the game. ISU needed every point that night in a 71-70 victory over Chicago State in the newly opened Redbird Arena before a then-school record crowd of 9,724.

15 years ago (2004): Illinois Wesleyan’s 6-foot-6 center Cory Jones scored seven straight points in the final 2:30 as the Titans pulled away from stubborn Elmhurst to claim an 84-74 victory. Partly because twin brother Chris is out with a foot injury, Cory Jones played a career-high 33 minutes and contributed 15 points and eight rebounds.

25 years ago (1994): Bloomington High School graduates LaToya Doage and Makia Robinson combined for 30 points as the undefeated Lincoln College women’s basketball team returned from a three-week layoff with an 88-75 victory over Mineral Area.

50 years ago (1969): Hartsburg-Emden slipped past Elkhart, 91-83, in a Lincoln Land Conference game at Hartsburg. The Stags were led by Larry Janssen, who poured in 35 points, 22 of them coming in the second half. The winners hit 50 percent of their shots from the field.
