5 years ago (2013): Despite an almost two-hour delay at the start because of a North Park scheduling mix-up with the bus, unbeaten Illinois Wesleyan started quickly and rolled to a 52-21 victory over the Vikings. The win gave head coach Norm Eash a record 169th victory as Titan coach.
15 years ago (2003): Senior Dana Schulte scored her first two goals of the season as Illinois State’s soccer team defeated Indiana State, 2-0, in Missouri Valley Conference action at Adelaide Street Field.
25 years ago (1993): University High golfer Todd Mitchell fired a 4-over-par 75 to earn medalist honors and spark the Pioneers to first place in the U High Class A Sectional at the ISU Golf Course. U High’s 320 total was 10 strokes better than Danville Schlarman.
50 years ago (1968): Quarterback Bob Linder sneaked through the middle with only two minutes and 36 seconds remaining, and Bob Farrar converted the point-after-touchdown to lead Illinois Wesleyan over Millikin, 14-7, at Lee Pigott Field in Decatur. It was Wesleyan’s fifth consecutive triumph over the Big Blue.
