5 years ago (2010): Bloomington PrairieThunder forward Mike Liambas, who was suspended for the remainder of the season at the junior level in October, has been suspended for the next five games by the International Hockey League for a Dec. 29 hit against a Muskegon player.

15 years ago (2000): Denver Johnson is on the Illinois State campus interviewing for one of his closest friend’s former job, The Pantagraph has learned. Johnson, who was a teammate of former ISU football coach Todd Berry at Tulsa, met with Redbird officials and players to discuss the school’s vacant head football coaching post.

25 years ago (1990): David Bazzell scored 23 points and Daton Kupferschmid added 21 as Prairie Central, ranked No. 2 in Class A, scored a 86-73 victory over host Clifton Central in a battle of Wauseca Conference unbeatens.

50 years ago (1965): Fairbury-Cropsey used the scoring of John McDonald and Jim Steffen to defeat Chatsworth, 64-50. McDonald dumped in 24 points to pace the Tarters' offense and capture high point honors for the game. Steffen gave him good support as he totaled 19 points.
