5 years ago (2014): Illinois Wesleyan’s Colleen McMahon was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin women’s basketball player of the week. McMahon had 27 points on 12-of-18 shooting in an 85-71 win at Augustana, and added 26 points during an 81-70 win over Elmhurst.

15 years ago (2004): Emily Hanley scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds and made four steals as the Normal Community girls basketball team clinched at least a share of the Big 12 Conference title with a 52-33 victory over Urbana. The win pushed NCHS to a 12-0 league record with two games remaining.

25 years ago (1994): Joel Dodson’s 20 points sparked Pontiac to a 42-37 victory over Bloomington in the Illinois Elementary School Association Class 7AA State Basketball Tournament championship.

50 years ago (1969): Illinois State University center Tom Taulbee, who had 22 points and 20 rebounds in a league victory over Western Illinois, was nominated for player of the week honors in the Interstate Conference.
