15 years ago (1996): University High sophomore Pete Martin allowed a mere two hits while pitching the Pioneers to the Momence Sectional baseball title and into the Class A State Tournament with a 2-0 shutout of PBL.

25 years ago (1986): Bloomington Beer Nuts men’s major fastpitch softball team rolled over Shelbyville, Ind., 7-0 and 5-1 at O’Neil Park. Tim McGuire pitched a no-hitter in the five-inning first game and Graham Arnold tossed a one-hitter in the second game as Beer Nuts improved to 24-3.

50 years ago (1961): Laesch Dairy inaugurated Mahomet’s new softball park by whipping the Mahomet Merchants, 5-0, on a no-hitter by Bill Kennedy. Laesch also won the nightcap, 6-2.
