5 years ago (2010): Joe Hicks singled on the first pitch of the game, stole second base on the next offering and scored the initial run as the Normal CornBelters opened their inaugural season in the Frontier League in grand fashion with a 7-0 victory at Evansville.

15 years ago (2000): Normal Community High School graduate Jason Beckman, a senior centerfielder for Bradley University’s baseball team, has been named to the 11-player GTE College Sports Information Directors of America all-District V team.

25 years ago (1990): Don Blackmon won two events and ran on two winning relay teams to lead Pontiac to an overwhelming victory in the Corn Belt Conference track and field meet. Brad Peterson, Carlos Fowler and Craig Black also had multiple victories for Pontiac.

50 years ago (1965): An excellent relief performance by freshman Mark Reinmann carried Woodland High School to a 3-2 victory over Flanagan in the showdown game for the Midstate Conference baseball championship. The win gave the Warriors a 7-0 league mark and the undisputed title.
