5 years ago (2014): Matt Galvan and Eric Meier had an up-and-down round as first-time partners but finished on a positive note with a 9-under-par 62 to share the top spot in opening day qualifying for the Bloomington-Normal Two-Man Best Position tournament at Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State.

15 years ago (2004): First-time partners Tim Kerfoot and Ted Speller weathered a rain delay to shoot a 10-under-par 62, the best score of the day in the final qualifying round for the Bloomington-Normal Two-Man Best Position Golf Tournament.

25 years ago (1994): Normal Post 635 took a pair of American Legion baseball victories with John DeCicco throwing a three-hit shutout in a 7-0 win over Limestone and James Rinne and Bryan Mounce combined to scatter seven hits in a 5-2 win over Bloomington Post 56.

50 years ago (1969): Jim Sprague offset occasional wildness with pinpoint accuracy as he hurled the Bloomington Louis E. Davis Legion baseball team to a 5-1 victory over the Washington Legion squad. Sprague walked eight batters in a game shortened to six innings because of darkness, but fanned 11.
