5 years ago (2008): Eureka High School graduate Andy Studebaker has signed a two-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs and could be in uniform for the next game against Buffalo. Studebaker was drafted in the sixth round out of Wheaton College by Philadelphia as a linebacker.

15 years ago (1998): Tecia Carber made 11 of 14 free throws in overtime as the Prairie Central High School girls basketball team topped Tri-Valley, 58-48, for the championship of the Prairie Central Turkey Shootout at Fairbury. Kaley Keeley and Lindsay Whateley each scored 13 points for Prairie Central.
25 years ago (1988): Denny McDowell of Normal and Chris Rockheld of Peoria teamed to win the men's 30-and-over title at the Illinois State Racquetball Doubles Tournament at DuPage Racquet Club, Addison. The doubles team of Larry McDowell and Brad Steimel of Bloomington made the semifinals of the 25-and-over division before bowing out.
50 years ago (1963): Flanagan halfback Bob Rinkenberger was the lone unanimous selection for the Midstate Conference all-star team. Rinkenberger, the leading conference point-producer with 61 points, was named by each coach for the offensive team.
