5 years ago (2014): Sophomore Trevor Seibring reached double figures with 21 points and 10 rebounds to spark the Illinois Wesleyan basketball team to a 92-71 victory over Centenary and the championship of the Rhodes Thanksgiving Tournament in Memphis, Tenn.

15 years ago (2004): Keelan Amelianovich nailed four quick 3-pointers to ignite an impressive Illinois Wesleyan second half that led to an 80-73 basketball victory over Olivet Nazarene. Amelianovich finished with 23 points.

25 years ago (1994): Noted alumnus Wayne Messmer sang a stirring a cappella version of the national anthem and a standing-room crowd estimated at 2,800 watched Illinois Wesleyan open the new Shirk Center with a 99-96 victory over Aurora behind a 32-point effort by Mark Aubry.

50 years ago (1969): You may not be able to tell the Redbirds without a program when Illinois State University opens defense of its Interstate Conference Basketball Tournament championship tonight at Horton Fieldhouse. Illinois State coach Jim Collie could start four sophomores against Western Illinois.
