5 years ago (2014): Illinois State goalkeeper Aryn Newsom stopped a crucial penalty kick and star forward Rachel Tejada tied a program single-game record with four goals, powering the top-seeded Redbirds to a 6-2 victory over Missouri State in the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

15 years ago (2004): Illinois State women’s basketball team broke the century mark for the first time since 1990 behind Katie Donovan’s near triple-double and five other Redbirds scored in double figures to fuel a 102-64 exhibition victory against overmatched St. Xavier.

25 years ago (1994): LaToya Doage, a graduate of Bloomington High School, tallied 29 points and added nine rebounds, eight assists and eight steals to help Lincoln College whip Lake Land, 101-66, in women’s basketball.

50 years ago (1969): Rex Newman, Xen Karcher, Stan Blunier and John McWhorter all scored touchdowns as Forrest-Strawn-Wing defeated Onarga Community High School, 26-6, to clinch the Vermillion Valley Conference championship.
