"Djordje served well and fought hard," said Redbird coach Greg Kennett. "He got the job done. They were both good wins."

Bloomington High School graduate Oscar Beich overcame a loss in his first set to beat Chris Eldon of Indiana State, 4-6, 6-2 and 7-6 (1). Luka Marinkovic also had a win in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, to improve his record to 3-0.

Other singles winners for the Redbirds were Daniel Tobar at no. 6 and Tim Link at No. 7.

"Overall it was a great first day. We haven't accomplished much yet, but we have to bear down for tomorrow," said Kennett. "I would like to see all of them in the finals."
