EUGENE, Ore. — Bloomington native Christin Wurth-Thomas was the top qualifier from the 1,500-meter run semifinals at the USA Track and Field Championships Thursday, producing a time of 4 minutes, 8.32 seconds.
Wurth-Thomas will contest the finals at 4:33 p.m. (Central) on Saturday.
In other action Thursday, Tri-Valley High School graduate Stephanie Brown did not advance from the 800 preliminaries as her time of 2:06.75 ranked 23rd. It took 2:05.61 to advance.
In the junior women’s heptathlon, Bloomington’s Kelly Steffen is 19th in the field of 23 after four events with 2,631 points. Her day included a 15.46 clocking in the 100 hurdles, a 5-foot, 3-inch high jump clearance, a 28-6.25 shot put effort and a time of 27.52 in the 200.
Action resumes Friday with NCAA champion Tim Glover of Illinois State entered in the senior men’s javelin and Pontiac’s Emily Grove and Normal Community West’s Taylor Kirby contesting the junior women’s pole vault.
