Iroquois West High School junior forward Lauren Vaughn recorded 15 points and three assists Tuesday as the Raiders posted a 46-42 nonconference girls basketball win over St. Anne at Gilman.
Kelly Theesfeld and Whitney Gray each added eight points for Iroquois West (10-17). Victoria Krones had a team-high 10 rebounds.
"We rebounded well tonight and that was the difference in the game," Raiders coach Hanns Meyer said.
Iroquois West tallied seven more turnovers than the Cardinals but held the free throw advantage with 12 points from the stripe compared to just six for St. Anne.
Taylorville 51, Lincoln 34
Lincoln sophomore forward Katie Schonauer registered a team-high eight points as the Railsplitters fell to Taylorville in a Central State Eight conference game at Taylorville.
Patty Carmitchel added seven points for Lincoln (11-12, 3-8).
The Railsplitters trailed by only four points at the start of the fourth quarter and were down by just two with 6:18 to go. Taylorville, however, was able to hold off Lincoln's late rally and pull away for the win.
The Tornadoes held Lincoln's top scorer, Christine Presswood, to just one basket and three points.
Milford 62, Tri-Point 40
Tri-Point's Kristin Opperman scored a team-high 13 points as the Chargers fell in a nonconference game at Milford.
Sara Mylcraine added 11 points for Tri-Point (10-13). The Chargers managed 16 points in the first and third quarters combined, and were 8 for 21 from the free throw line.
