Eureka natives to open Firehouse Subs in Peoria
PEORIA – Brothers Jeff Lehman and Greg Lehman are going to realize a long-standing dream when their restaurant, Firehouse Subs, opens in Peoria on Jan. 27.
The two oldest sons of Michele and the late Jim Lehman, the men have wanted to own a restaurant for many years. They traveled to various restaurants in search of the right one.
“We went and tried a bunch of different places. My dad was alive then and he said, ‘No, no, no,’” Greg said.
Then in 2011, Jeff, Greg, and their families visited the Firehouse Subs in Wheaton. The fast-casual restaurant was started in Florida in 1994 and now has more than 850 locations across the United States.
Greg said he remembers his dad saying, “Oh yeah, this is really good.”
Jeff and Greg researched how to become Firehouse Subs franchise owners. They then flew with their dad to Florida and met with the founders. The brothers signed the franchise agreement in March 2012.
