LATE WEEK FIRE

HANDLING A BLAZE– Individuals work at the scene of a house fire in Secor on Friday morning (For the Journal/Brittany Breitbarth).

SECOR – Nine people, including six children, were taken to hospitals Friday morning after a house fire. A 10th person was treated by rescue workers but not hospitalized, according to a Facebook post by the Eureka-Goodfield Fire Protection District. None of the injuries were believed to be serious. A cause for the fire has not been released.

The Ditch Bar and Grill, located at 106 W. Bestor St., will collect donations of food, clothes, diapers and other essentials, according to East Peoria-based WEEK TV's website.

It quoted the bar's Facebook page as saying none of the kids — one girl and five boys, all ages four or younger — had shoes or clothes on when they were evacuated from the home.

Boys' clothing in sizes 4T and 3T is needed, along with clothes for a one-year-old boy and an infant girl. Diapers are needed in sizes 4 and 2, Pull-Ups in sizes 3T and 4T. Adult clothing needs include men's extra-large clothing and size 32 jeans, and women's large (maternity) clothing. Donations can be dropped off at the bar, which also is accepting monetary donations.

Firefighters and rescue workers from Secor, Eureka-Goodfield, El Paso, Congerville and Roanoke were at the scene.
