EUREKA – William T. “Bill” Dougherty, 59, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at his home in Decatur.
He was born Dec. 27, 1955, in Rantoul, the son of Thomas and Lydia Lawhun Dougherty.
Survivors include four sons, Bill (Heidi) Dougherty Jr., Thomas Dougherty, Edward Dougherty and Richard (Morgan) Dougherty; three daughters, Lydia Dougherty, Brandi (Eric) Wible and Elizabeth (Moe) Stomila; eight grandchildren; one brother, Brian Dougherty, Carthage; one sister, Karen Langham, Altamont and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dennis Dougherty.
Bill operated the Elms Motel and a gift shop, both in El Paso, and later owned the Pizza Cove in Eureka. He also worked for the Macon County Sheriff’s Office in Decatur. Bill loved watching the Chicago Cubs, drawing, collecting and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
Services were Saturday at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial will take place in El Paso at a later date.
