CONGERVILLE - Esther E. Troike, 101, died at 2:45 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
She was born May 11, 1913, in Congerville, the daughter of John and Caroline Engle Schieber. She married Wilmer Troike on April 27, 1946, in Oak Park. He died March 29, 1993.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Alma Schieber Wackerle, Eureka; one brother-in-law, Lester Troike, Wheaton; 11 nephews; six nieces and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Emma Schieber, four brothers, Harold Schieber, Victor Schieber, Carl Schieber and Harvey Schieber, one niece, Beverly Schieber, and one nephew, Alyn Schieber.
Esther worked for Automatic Electric in Genoa for 23 years. She was a member of the Congerville AC Church, Belvidere Women’s Garden Club and Cherryville Pacers of Rockford. Esther volunteered for many years at the AC Home of Eureka. She had a special place in her heart for children and cherished any chance she had to hold a baby in her arms.
Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the church with ministers of the church officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the AC Home of Eureka and noon to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in the Congerville-Goodfield AC Church Cemetery, rural Congerville. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is in charge of the arrangements.
