WASHINGTON – John L. “Virgil” Allen, 63, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at his home in Washington with his family by his side.
He was born March 13, 1951, in Bloomington, the son of John and Darlene Reaba Allen. He married Sandy Lintz on May 29, 1988, in Washington. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother of Congerville; one daughter, Dr. Mikell Allen, Eureka; two stepsons, Rick Cordis and Terry (Mari Sue) Cordis, both of Peoria and two grandchildren, Gabriella Cordis and Jack Cordis.
He was preceded in death by his father and twin brother, Michael Allen.
John served in the Army. He worked for A.O. Smith of Eureka for 11 years and with Parsons Manufacturing, rural Roanoke, for 23 years. His hobbies included working on cars, fishing, watching the Minnesota Vikings and New York Yankees play and spending time with family and friends.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration life will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria.
