EUREKA – Richard “Rick” D. McCollum, 70, died at 3:45 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2018, at his home in Eureka.
He was born July 10, 1948, in Shelbyville, the son of Ray and Fae Wood McCollum. He married Judith Payne on Sept. 17, 1975, in Pekin. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Kelly (Dan) Hadfield and Angela (Dave) Hahn, both of Eureka; three sons, Clint Plunk, Roanoke, John (Jennifer) Plunk, Bethel Springs, Tenn., and Travis McCollum, Eureka; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry (Dee) McCollum of the state of Wisconsin and Doug (Robin) McCollum, Arcola and one sister, Brenda (Sid) Barringer, Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Matthew McCollum and Dave Plunk, and one brother, Lynn McCollum.
Rick worked at Caterpillar for 25 years and later owned/operated Tri-C Co. in Eureka. He was an avid race car fan and enjoyed all types of racing. Rick loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Eureka, with the Rev. Don Russell officiating. Visitation will take place Sunday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka.
