ROANOKE - Thomas Robert Martino, 59, of Hastings, Mich., died Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, near Caledonia, Mich., following an automobile accident.
He was born Jan. 11, 1956, in Peoria, the son of Joe and Mary Teresa Santi Martino. He married Darlene Fisher on Oct. 14, 2011. She survives.
Other survivors include his parents of Roanoke; four daughters, Kathy (Pat) McReynolds, Peoria and Heather Lane, Erica (Sam) Fischer and Carla Martino, all of Roanoke; two stepsons, Tony (Bridget) Funkey, Fremont, Mich., and Casey Funkey, Grant, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Pam) Martino, Pewaukee, Wis.; two sisters, Mary Jo (Lynn) Roseman, Eureka and Colleen (Phil) Oltman, Roanoke and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Tom grew up in Roanoke, attended Roanoke-Benson High School and completed an apprentice program through Caterpillar. In his earlier years, Tom worked for Caterpillar in Peoria. For the past 25 years, he was a prototype engineer with Benteler Automotive in Wyoming, Mich. Tom was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Hastings. He was a devout Catholic and avid in fishing. Tom loved his yearly musky fishing trips to Wisconsin with his father, brother, nephews and friends. He loved music, movies and spending time helping people in recovery, and most of all, his family.
Local services will be held Feb. 7 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Roanoke with the Rev. Charles Beebe officiating. Visitation will be Feb. 7 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke is in charge of the local arrangements.
