WRESTLING: Eureka rolls in tri: State-ranked Eureka (16-1) blasted Knoxville (66-10) and host Kewanee (61-17) on Thursday, winning 23 of a possible 28 matches. Brock Merritt scored a 19-4 technical fall win @ 160 pounds. Connor Ryan netted a pin in 34 seconds @ 220 for No. 21 Eureka, while Drake Bowald recorded in a pin in 51 @ 126.

Eureka posts wins: Host Eureka blanked Peoria Manual (75-0) and tipped Peoria Notre Dame (34-30) in a Tuesday triangular. There were only two contested matches with PM, one of those being a pin by Geoffrey Miller @ 160. Chase Scherer scored a pin @ 170 versus PND.


Eureka 61, Olympia 13: Eureka (13-6, 4-3) held the Corn Belt Conference hosts scoreless in the second quarter of Monday's game. Kelsey Young pumped in a career-high 20 points. Whitley Gregoire had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The loss was the 50th in a row for Olympia.

Pontiac 38, Eureka 46: Kalla Gold buried five three-pointers and totaled 23 points in Eureka's home win Thursday over the league rival Indians.

Eureka 39, El Paso-Gridley 40: The Hornets handed EP-G their first loss last season, but the Titans prevailed in Saturday's rematch. Kalla Gold led the guests with 19 points.

Fieldcrest 45, Henry 36: Haley Ruestman's 21 points helped Fieldcrest in a Monday nonconference road triumph over the Mallards.

LeRoy 60, Fieldcrest 45: Katie Schultz's 15 points Thursday night was not enough for Fieldcrest against the Heart of Illinois Conference co-leading Panthers.


LeRoy 34, Fieldcrest 71: Fieldcrest made 12 baskets from behind the three-point line to rout Heart of Illinois Conference guest LeRoy on Friday. Matt Gerardo (19 points), Brady Sanders (14), Matthew Baxter (12) and Reed Klendworth were all in double figures for Fieldcrest (13-2, 5-0).

Woodland 57, Roanoke-Benson 66: The host Rockets (8-7, 2-2) converted their final 11 free throws Friday night to stop their Tri-County Conference guests. Brandon deFreese had 20 points, Mason Shirley (13) and Reed Durley posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.

Eureka 46, Prairie Central 54: Despite 11 points from Alex Hunt, Eureka (8-6, 3-3) dropped a Corn Belt Conference game Tuesday night to host Prairie Central at Fairbury.

Fieldcrest 55, R-B 40: The guests drained 11 treys in the Tuesday nonconference victory. Brady Sanders scored a game-high 14 points for the Knights. R-B received 13 points from Reed Durley. 


Swimmers go 1-1: Metamora/Eureka/Roanoke-Benson (3-3) defeated Pontiac, but lost to host Normal West in a Thursday triangular. Josh Figg was the highest finisher, taking second in the backstroke.

Tri-op third at Peoria: Josh Figg and Tjark Rients placed second in the 2 x 100 freestyle in the Manual Ram Relays at Woodruff. M/E/R-B took third out of 12 teams.
